Community Services
NTANN sponsors the New Beginning Center for battered women and their children in the Garland, Texas and surrounding areas. We do this by donating items they routinely need to run the shelter and meet the needs of their clients. See the list below on this page. We also donate quilts and tied fleece blankets for the infants and children that are made by our members-materials are purchased with the money collected for the dues of membership.
Opportunities for service to this organization in other ways are also available by contacting the center directly.
The New Beginning Center also has a Thrift Shop called New Beginnings located in the strip mall on the southwest corner of North Garland Road and Buckingham Road in Garland. Gently used items donated to the thrift shop benefit the clients in 2 ways. The shop is open to the public, with the proceeds of sales donated to the New Beginning Center. The clients of the center are also given vouchers for the thrift shop, which they can use to obtain needed items for themselves, their children or their homes. Please consider donating any appropriate items to the center if you are doing any spring cleaning or weeding out in your own homes. The shop is open from 11am to 6pm daily, except Sundays. If you have items to donate and can’t make it to the shop, bring them to a chapter meeting and Sheri Clark will take them to the thrift shop for you.
RuthAnn and Sheri display the quilts made for the New Beginning Center in Garland to aid the bettered women and their children.
