Thanks to Ms. Dona Taylor RNC,NNP for her wonderful lecture about Distal Bowel Refeeding and the case presentation, and to the Ovation Pharmaceutical, Inc. for the beautiful t-shirts. members were enjoying them. Also to Ms. Laura Mccavit from Abbott Nutrition, for the delicious Chinese food and the introduction of Similac products which will be the WIC formula. Remember the importance of BIB (Brain, Immunity, and Bone) which the Similacs stand strongly for.
Sue Liu, RNC, BSN, the President of NTANN, reminded members to use our website for communication, and to link NANN for applying Ovation NNP sholarship, to mark the calander for 24th NANN Annual Conference in Florida, to explore all the educational materials and free CEU from NICUNIVERSITY.com. NANN By Law Amendement was passed. NTANN 20th Anniversary Celebration t-shirt will be given to members upon 2008 membership renewal. Thanks to Ovation Pharceutical Inc. for the sponsorship of t-shirt project and 2008 recruitment tours, it will be started in March, volunteers needed.

Speaker Introduction: Ms. Dona Taylor, RNCNNP, “Distal Bowel Feeding in Neonates”
Ms. Dona Taylor, RNC, NNP, a senior nursing practioner of Pediatrix Medical Group and currently works in Medical City Children Hospital, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She graduated from El Central Nursing School in 1976, and completed her NNP training in 1993. She is a well-respected clinician among her colleagues and her clinical skills and knowledge exceeding and beyond her level, often she is called to perform lines placement and other clinical procedures and is an indispensable clinician. Her works reflec her love to the patients and her high-level of quality care. She has been trained through numours conferecnces and seminars, her dedication to her job is unbeatable.

Dr. Van S. Miller will talk about Neonatal Neurology Updates.
Introduction of guest speaker:
Dr. Van Strickland Miller, MD, PhD, is a Board Certified pediatrician and child neurologist. He obtained his PhD in neuroscience from University of Texas at Austin and then later acquired his MD from Texas Branch in Galveston, Texas. His research intereasts include:
neonatal neurology, developmental neurology, ontogeny of learning in humans and animals, neuro epidemiology, developmental defects of the brain, autism etc. He has published numerous papers and a book. He has been invited to present his papers and to speak all over the important cities in the U.S.A. and outside of the country too.
Dr. Miller is a private practitioner with Texas child Neurology and he has affiliated with several major hospitals in Dallas. He has taught in universities and medical schools concurrently with his medical practice in the past decade.

What a thrill, all the fleece tied blanket projects for Women’s shelter are being taken home by the memebers to make while the weather is cold here in North Texas! Thanks for their dedication to our community service.

Introduction of Speaker:
Dr. Wendy Chung is the Chief Epidemiologist for the Dallas County Department of Health and Human services. She manages the DCHHS epidemiology staff as they collect, track and analyze data for infecous and reportable diseases in Dallas County. She is responsible for directing disease outbreaking investigations and control activities.
Dr. Chung’s experience as a private practioner with Pediatrics Infectious Disease Associates in Dallas, Texas gave her extensive knowledge of the diagnosis and management of neonatal and pediatric infection. In addtion, Dr. Chung has academic training in infectious disease and public health. She received her BS from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MSPH from the Harvard School of Public Health and MD from the University of Texas Health Scieince Center at San Antonio. She completed her internship in Radiology, residency in Pediatrics and fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Disease at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Disease. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Infectious Disease Society of America and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America.

Introduction of Speaker: Dr. Ricihard Deulofeut, M.D., MPH
Dr. Deulofeut, an Attending Neonatologist from Pediatrix-Obstetrix Medical Group in Dallas. Born in Barranquilla, Columbia; graduated from Universidad del Norte. Columbia and acquired the Master degree in Public Health from Harvard Medical School; Pediatric residency in Jackson Memorial Hospital, University of Miami, Miami, Florida; Neonatology Fellowship in Emory University. He has published numerous papers related to neonates and is a well respected researcher in the Latino fields of neonates. His studies included impact of vaginal delivery of VLBW neonates, pulse oximetry, and oxygen as a health hazard of neonates, etc. He resides in Dallas with two sons and his wife. Sheri Clark was chosen by board to attend the 23rd NANN conference in San Diego with the complimentary admission. We wish her have a great trip in September 2007 to San Diego.
Commmunity services Liaison, Sheri Clark announced to donnate school supplies for the New Beginning Center in Garland, she welcome members to bring in school supplies or to donnate money.
Suzanne Staebler, NNP who had returned from the visit to China and gave a presentation of “Comparison the NICU practice in China.” What a great speaker! She really opened our eyes to see the world.
